The best way to deal with petrol prices is to not think about them.
Here, petrol is currently at $1.36/L. The way I see it, is that petrol is cheaper per/L than any other liquid. Milk costs just over $2/L. Hell - for a bottle of water, you pay more than a bottle of milk (and a bottle of water is usually 600mL)! |

Easy enough to say when your fuel is 64p/litre. Ours is DOUBLE that in some places... I usually pay about £65 ($137 AUD) for a full tank of petrol (60 litres).
Milk is a lot cheaper than petrol here... Petrol is even more expensive than beer. Even the cheapest beer. Nuff said. |

I'm not sure of the currency exchange rate, but gas is at an all time high in Tennessee right now. I'm currently getting $3.30 a gallon. OPEC has record high prices for barrels of oil right now, currently $104 a barrel. Absolutely ridiculas. I saw a recent figure on CNN that exposed how much the companies in America are making right now, and it's in the billions

I didn't realise it was that high. And I thought $45 to fill my tank with Premium 98 Octane was expensive.. |

I don't find mine too bad considering I only get through £10-£15 a week and then an extra £10 to go see my dad. Half a tank lasts me the week. Typical though the petrol prices shot up the same week I passed my test. Are they trying to tell me something?
![]() A discussion we had a work last week... They are putting people off smoking and drinking by banning smoking in pubs and putting the prices of alcohol up therefore the government is losing out on tax so they just stick it onto petrol where people won't stop using it. They say it's to do with getting people out of their cars, cutting carbon emissions but yeah right people aren't going to stop driving. Yes there is public transport and yes we can walk/cycle but more people taking public transport = more public transport needed = more fuel used. Can't win really. It also works out cheaper to drive everywhere than to pay for busses/trains everyday. With the fuel prices going up bus costs will go up and there aren't enough bus routes... not where I live anyway where there are a lot of middle of no where villages. Some one at worksaid that someone told them petrol prices next year will be £1.50 a litre. That doesn't surprise me at all. |

Yes, I know us in America shouldn't be complaining, but when you pay $0.55 USD per gallon on gasoline to taxes, that's what pisses us off! We should be paying a base price of $2.55, not $3.10 in Florida after getting raped!

we pay 106.9p per litre and atleast 70% of that goes to taxes... so $0.55 out of $3.10 is bugger all (17%)

i drive a lil ford ka.. pretty crap, but insurance is cheap ~£500 as a named driver with 2 years no claims.
supposedly on wiki it has 69 bhp or something mad. it's not a bad lil car tho, the clutch is nice and soft and the gear box ain't bad for a street car ( will do 30 in first; 50 in second; 70 in third and about 90 in 4th) and it's pretty sweet for doing hand brake and j turn's |

Ben, that may be so but only with the larger models with smaller engines (520i/d, 720). BMW engines are pretty rock solid, as is almost all of the car. My 3 series is a lot nippier than most of my friends cars, even those with small hatchbacks. The main problem with BMW's is the electrics... My drivers side window is a bit dodgy to say the least. I can live with that though.
I think the best BMW made alloys are definitely the M6's (also a pretty awesome car to drive): ![]() The price of those things though... Mine has the default 3 series alloys and they are good enough for me ![]() |

![]() ![]() Saw a hummer around Surrey yesterday... Was taking up the WHOLE width of the road (was a two lane road). Why on earth would anyone buy a car like that? |
