This might be a little off-topic about test and report but seeing how I'm a new member. I can't make a new topic. Anyways, I thought I would warn everyone that there is another virus/worm going around. It's happened before when Mess.be did a little article on it before but one of the msn contacts will say: this looks like you... is it? http://www.m-force.net/contactinfo.php?msn=<your email here>. So yeah...I'm pretty sure its a virus because it'll try to download some file.

I stupidly accepted a zip file called photo album from a friend as the message that was sent before the file was sent was "hey, my sister told me to send this to you", when i extracted the file and opened the pif file, my wlm started to send da same file to every contact on my messenger. It only seemed to affect my wlm and nothing else. Because it was sending to all my contacts at once it caused my messenger crash and would allow me to stop it unless i went to the task manager and ended the msnmsgr.exe process. It only seemed to affected my messenger and my avg didn't find any viruses. I tried deleting the file and for some strange reason it was fine after that. I also ran sophos anti virus software which didnt find anything either.

Is this a form of the Bropia.A virus and how do i get rid of it or make sure i did get rid of it?

Probably another virus. Others reported it here http://forum.mess.be/index.php?showtopic=21280

No solution here but here is some info on what virus it is.

photo album.zip the worm itsself is not what you want to be worried about, like all msn worms there is allteria motives to it...

90% of the time they download, botnet, Adaware (Pay per Install) PPI and (Pay Per Click) PPC types, some are even loaded with rats, the photo album just installed adaware... its not hard to remove it.... problem msn has is no matter if they have removed the sendfile() from the MSN api, you can still bypass that and send files anyway >.>

I have Windows Live Messenger, and I keep getting messages from people, even if they're offline sometimes. The message is in spanish or something like that and has a link to a pornotube site.

It's really annoying, my virus scanner's not picked it up, also tried un/re-installing messenger but can't seem to get rid of it!

Does anyone know anything about it cos I can't find anything about it anywhere!

Any help would be gratefully received!

Thanx

BS.

You say you get it a lot from people. Just because you are receiving the message doesn't mean you have the virus on the computer. Or do you have it on yours?
