How is that "take that Windows"? o.O

*refuses to buy an iPhone, primarily because over US$2000 for a phone is ludicrous*

... And don't forget Apple's usual $-£ exchange rate: that thing will cost £2000 when it's released in the UK later this year.

Do want one. Will only get one if it isnt tied to a single carrier with a long 24 month contract. Would only buy it outright and use my existing sim. So it's probally doubtful i will get one.

I want one. I probably will never get one because one I don't want to pay 600 dollars for a phone. And 2 it's not even available where I live.

Try and open the phone to unlock it. You can't even put your own ring tones on without buying them from iTunes.

QUOTE(http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6260618.stm)
The device costs either $499 [4GB] or $599 [8GB] and buyers must also commit to a two-year contract with AT&T that will cost them a minimum of $59.99 per month.

So that's $500 + $60 * 24 (= $1940) or $600 + $60 * 24 (= $2040). At least.

QUOTE(http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6260618.stm)
As with many Apple products, prices in Europe are likely to be higher than direct currency conversions from the US dollar would suggest.

What the BBC mean there, of course, is that Apple's conversion rate tends to be $1 = £1, despite the real conversion rate being $1 = £0.496. Yes, you have to add taxes and such, but VAT isn't 100% msn_wink.gif

also got to consider inflation and things here... plus theres shipping costs since theyre manufactured in USA. if it was in china then they would be dirt cheap.

it doesnt equal exactly twice the amount, but thats how they make their profit...

I wouldn't mind an iPhone but never will I go on a contract again- simple £450 bill for one month. Pay As You Go is easy, you know what your putting in and if you haven't got the money you can't use it.
