Ben, that may be so but only with the larger models with smaller engines (520i/d, 720). BMW engines are pretty rock solid, as is almost all of the car. My 3 series is a lot nippier than most of my friends cars, even those with small hatchbacks. The main problem with BMW's is the electrics... My drivers side window is a bit dodgy to say the least. I can live with that though.

I was referring to how big the bastards are.

Easy enough to say when your fuel is 64p/litre. Ours is DOUBLE that in some places... I usually pay about £65 ($137 AUD) for a full tank of petrol (60 litres).

Milk is a lot cheaper than petrol here... Petrol is even more expensive than beer. Even the cheapest beer. Nuff said.

Jesus. I didn't realise it was that high.

And I thought $45 to fill my tank with Premium 98 Octane was expensive..

The best way to deal with petrol prices is to not think about them.

Here, petrol is currently at $1.36/L.

The way I see it, is that petrol is cheaper per/L than any other liquid.

Milk costs just over $2/L. Hell - for a bottle of water, you pay more than a bottle of milk (and a bottle of water is usually 600mL)!

Nah, just move to Australia. At 25, insurance costs SFA for pretty much anything.

Comprehensive for a Supra at 25 would cost like $900/yr

seriously? no insurance company would even think about insuring you with that Supra in the UK, and especially not for £950

-------------------------------

a Skyline R34 for 549,000 Yen!!! thats like £2650!!!

on ebayUK they sell for £10,000+ (2002 GTR V-Spec - £35,000 which is 7.26 Million Yen or nearly $74,000)

damn cheap Austrailia pp.gif

Yeah, the UK is f***ed up in the way of insurance.

549,000 Yen is about $5700 AUD. We buy R34 GTRs here from Japan for about $40,000. The increase in price is due to Compliance, Shipping, and the import broker's cut of the buy.

I can buy a low kilometer JZA80 Supra for around $14,000 with all of the above included. That's a non-turbo (they have a price hike here because we've got silly power restrictions for new drivers, which I am unfortunatly classed as for another 2 years). Twin-Turbos typically can be bought for $11,000.
Both will sell in Japan for what is about 250,000 Yen - around $2700 AUD.

In closing, if you want a nice car, move to Australia msn_grin.gif

how does a 17 year old insure a 3 Litre Modified Toyota Supra?

my 1.4 Pug306 insurance is £1600pa and i'm 18
also why do those Skylines and the RX7 in the background have such low numbers in the window surely not the price right?

A 17y/o can insure anything for the right price.

Example: it will cost me $2000 for comprehensive insurance on that Supra.

The R34s and RX7s are priced in yen. IE: 549 = 549,000 Yen.

Portal is a brilliant game. Haven't played it on 360 though, only PeeSee

Another good game to look out for, is Rainbow Six: Vegas 2. I was at the Ubisoft office in Sydney today for reasons related to work, and ended up playing a development version of it for a good half hour. I then proceeded straight to Electronics Boutique after work and pre-ordered it msn_grin.gif

15 hours exactly into 2008 here.

Happy New Beer to all.

Speaking of beer, my mates left all their booze in my esky last night and forgot to get it off me before I left, so I scored lots of Jack Daniels, lots of Bulleit Burbon, lots of Strongbow, and a large amount of Coca Cola msn_grin.gif

And to those English here.. learn how to put on a real firework display. Come to Sydney and see how it's done.

And that's a very good way of breaking NDA and getting yourself removed from ALL future betas. When you work for such a huge site like Mess.be, and BETA test, there's certain information you can't release.

Says the one who leaked the feature list, eh?

It's pretty piss poor, to be honest with you.

I'll wait until it's built in, and not some web-based plugin.

They said it when announcing that the 'new' operating system was coming 'soon' too. Tiger has nowhere near any of the stuff that Vista has, even XP in some circumstances. Leopard just doesnt seem to have anything new or useful in it. I agree with Shoop that it just looks like a +1' (as Vista could be seen) in terms of making stockholders happy.

Yes, and at the time, that was Tiger. They did it for WWDC 2004.

Less delays? "Redmond start your photocopiers" - Apple. Back in 2003 when apple thought this crap was going to be released before vista. What time did vista ship? This time last year. Game and point.

Better OS? It has nothing new of any use that you cant get with freeware or common sense. Not to mention most of the features have been stolen from other systems such as Windows anyway. My windows desktop runs everything i want and more, my macbook runs next to nothing except the core applications that i require. Good thing my Vista Business install has remote desktop installed on it...

Apple said that back in '04, at the introduction of Tiger.

Even Tiger had a majority of the features that Microsoft's 'next-gen' OS has today, which was released 2 years after Tiger was announced.. plenty of time to do said photocopying, don't you think?

Leopard is just raising the bar again, for MS to match in their next OS.

What a pile of crap this is. Months late for this? Ebay time.

Still had less delays, and is still a better OS than Vista.
