Hello.. I'm new here. I'm not new to Visual Basic, but I've been sticking to simple things mostly. I tried this code:
CODE

Public WithEvents msn As MessengerAPI.Messenger
Private Sub Form_Load()
Set msn = New MessengerAPI.Messenger
End Sub

When I go to run the program, it says "out of memory".
Does anybody know why it is doing that?

Well, it works form me

Maybe the Reference is wrong and VB is triying to put the file in memory and you got that error

Try to re-install "Windows Messenger" (yes, Windows Messenger not Msn Messenger)

I somehow have to use 'MessengerUA.MessengerUIAutomation' instead of the (regular) 'MessengerAPI.Messenger'.

I did make a reference to the Messenger API Type Library, but after that it changed it to Messenger UI Automation Type Library.

:/

EDIT: I just noticed that nothing seems to work this way msn_confused.gif

Never mind... I apparently had to update Windows Messenger...

I reinstalled Windows Messenger, and I still have the problem.. I'm not sure why

Edit: When I get the error, it highlights this line:
CODE

Set msn = New MessengerAPI.Messenger

Hello, I'm new to this Programming Game pp.gif

I made this from this tutorial:

CODE
Public WithEvents msn As MessengerAPI.Messenger

Private Sub cmdContacts_Click()
Dim msncontact As IMessengerContact
Dim msncontacts As IMessengerContacts
Set msncontacts = msn.MyContacts
For Each msncontact In msncontacts
lstContacts.AddItem (msncontact.SigninName)
End Sub

Private Sub Form_Load()
Set msn = New MessengerAPI.Messenger
End Sub

When running it in VB and i click on the command button to make it display my contacts? it says, Compile Error, For Without Next msn_confused.gif

I have a tricky issue with regards to changing names in msn.

I'm aware that this code only works in Windows messenger, i'll work on fixing that later.

But the code is for an "Auto Name Changer"
The problem is that after about 10 name changes, windows messengers starts a repetitive popup saying
"Name could not be changed at this time try again later etc."

timer1.interval = 1500

Heres the code

CODE

Option Explicit
Public WithEvents Msgr As MsgrObject
Dim strNumber
Dim strname
Dim current As Integer

Private Sub Form_Load()
Set Msgr = New Messenger.MsgrObject
strNumber = -1
End Sub

Private Sub Form_Unload(Cancel As Integer)
If MsgBox("Are You Sure You Want To Exit?", vbOKCancel, "Exit") = vbOK Then Else Cancel = 1
End Sub

Private Sub List1_DblClick()
List1.RemoveItem List1.ListIndex
End Sub

Private Sub mnuAdd_Click()
Dim strInput As String
strInput = InputBox("What Would You Like To Add?", "Add To The List")
List1.AddItem strInput
End Sub

Private Sub mnuStart_Click()
Select Case mnuStart.Caption
   Case "Start"
       Timer1.Enabled = True
       mnuStart.Caption = "Stop"
   Case "Stop"
       Timer1.Enabled = False
       mnuStart.Caption = "Start"
End Select
End Sub

Private Sub Timer1_Timer()
Dim strFinal
strFinal = List1.List(List1.ListCount)
If strname = strFinal Then strNumber = -1
If List1.ListCount = "0" Then GoTo List_empty
strNumber = strNumber + 1
strname = List1.List(strNumber)
On Error Resume Next
Msgr.Services.PrimaryService.FriendlyName = strname

Exit Sub

List_empty:
MsgBox "Theres Nothin in the list, lol", vbExclamation, "Error"
Timer1.Enabled = False
mnuStart.Caption = "Start"
Exit Sub
End Sub

Any one have any ideas? ... other then increasing the Timer interval.
Even ideas as to why this happens msn_confused.gif?

When the interval is at 1000 ... the popups start after about 5 name changes
When the interval is at 1500 ... the popups start after about 10 name changes
When the interval is at 2000 ... the popups start after about 15 name changes

This is when the list1 has about 5-10 enteries ...

The server has a time limit on changing details. If you flood the server, it'll start denying you.

Private Sub Form_Load()
Set Msn = New MessengerAPI.Messenger
End Sub

Private Sub cmdAddContact_Click()
Msn.AddContact 0, Text1.Text

MessengerAPI.Messenger.Status or .MyStatus

Its something like that anyway..

Open Visual Basic, Add the Reference, press F2, select Messenger API from the listbox at the top right.. then it should be pretty self explanatary msn_happy.gif

Well if you understand how you can send them, you should be able to understand how to recieve them seeing as its a reverse method..
