Swap Now Playing Title & Artist

Windows Media Player

(...)

I've also changed in msgslang.dll > String Table > 3830 > 1033

61274, "Changing your personal message:\n%1 - %2"

to

61274, "Changing your personal message:\n%2 - %1"

that way it will show:
Changing your personal message:
Artist - Title

-edit -
weird, now it's giving me some error msn_confused.gif

Read next time? I've read it, but the thing in psmsong.dll doesn't change that message. It's still "Changing your personal message: Song - Artist"

Got it?

Hey, I dont understand how you guys are editing the hex for the beta tag and polygamy. Are you using a different program other than Resource Hacker? Oh and everytime I try to open a convo with someone, it says "Unable to open convo with so and sos name" Any clue why? msn_cry.gif

No, sorry. Fixed that problem, now it keeps losing connection to the .NET. Think it could be from editing the files or is it just my internet? msn_tongue.gif

Hi, it only needs to be changed in the psmsong.dll file. Make sure you have completely exited MSN Messenger AND Windows Media Player when you save the file.

For Winamp you have to use Shane's plugin to swap the title and artist.

That happens when you screw up something in the UIFILES pp.gif

I've made that change too, and my Messenger works perfect, showing song titles perfectly using Winamp and WMP.
I've always edited that and I edit the psmsong.dll .

This is what I have...

61273, "{1} - {0}"
61274, "Changing your personal message:\n%2 - %1"
61275, "<Unknown Artist>"
61276, "<Unknown Title>"
61277, "Listening to: %1"

... works perfect for me. Both WMP and Winamp, and that MSN toast, all show "Artist - Title".

lol, lame is a great way to explain it. I re-did the editing of the files....works great! Although MSN was being fussy and kept losing connection to the .NET thing. Other than that, it works! Thanks for the great little guide to self patching MSN (hey it works, I dont have to wait for a Mess Patch for version 7.0.0732 to come out, I got everything I wanted patched!)

UPDATE: Although not recommended, the temporarily blocked features can be locally enabled again by reshacking your build number to 7.1.000.

To do this you open msnmsgr.exe in reshacker..

Go to Version Info > 1 > 1033

Edit:
CODE
FILEVERSION 7,0,732,0
PRODUCTVERSION 7,0,732,0

To look like this:
CODE
FILEVERSION 7,1,0,0
PRODUCTVERSION 7,1,0,0

Compile Script, save... msn_happy.gif

The links will become clickable and the warning in the contact list will disappear.

Full credit for the following goes to bedrock. This works on all platforms of Windows ie. 98/me/xp

QUOTE(bedrock @ Mar 31 2005, 01:15 AM)
I have been looking at the file transfer issue myself. I think the registry patch is easy for people to apply, but it has affects on other parts of windows attachment policies. I have been working on a patch just for messenger to stop it checking the windows attachment policies. I know it doesn't really matter how you solve this problem, and as always in software there is many solution for the same problem.

I have come up with the following binary patch on the MSN Messenger 7.0.0732 exe to re-enable blocked file transfers, if you know what you are doing with a hex editor here is the info, or maybe someone will include in there patcher in furture versions.

CODE

0011B2AB: 8B -> 33
0011B2AC: C6 -> C0
0011DFCA: 7C -> EB
0011DFCB: 18 -> 30

Hope someone finds this info useful.

Also the testing period is over so there is no need to change you messenger version.

Right here on these forums. just a different topic

Mess with MSN Messenger > Messenger Knowledge > MSN Messenger & Windows Messenger > Msn Messenger File Transfer Censorship
http://forum.mess.be/index.php?showtopic=6424&st=40

And hes certainly better than me, i just have the uncanny ability to remember hex values etc that other people have discovered

How to remove Tabs

I've found a way to do it, i don't know if it's the best, but that works msn_happy.gif

Search for
CODE
<msbltabs id=atom(tabmanager) padding=ifhc(rect(0,0,0,6), rect(0,0,0,6))>

(UIFILE > 923 > 1033 )

And replace it by
CODE
<msbltabs id=atom(tabmanager) padding=ifhc(rect(2,2,2,2), rect(0,0,0,0))>

That's it !

my first idea was to change both in 0,0,0,0 but i didn't work, that made an error with windows.

I hope that can help somebody msn_happy.gif

bye, n3tfusion

(Excuse my poor english :] )
