yeah gifs wouldnt work then... i have used them in web design and i have found them generally worthless....

so basically the first step for anyone trying to make winks or DDP's is to decode the map.dat files...?  i would think that someone would be able to decode them, especially because we know what they are encoded with

They are decodable, it's somewhere on msnfanatic, but you won't get any further with it, the problem is that you can't make your own stamps, if you decode the map.dat and stuff you still need the stamps. msn_confused.gif

You can get those certificatates from the URL's embeded in the stamp itself. (public certs). It's the actual signing process that matters(with the private keys).

That's microsoft's point... It is a security rick to let the average joe run arbitrary code on anyone's computer.

Well its been awhile since i've been here.

Anyway, my opinion.

Why not just create a striped down version of actionscript that doesnt allow access to the local machine? You i know it'll be a task for them but its not like they dont rip off every other scripting/programming language out there is it. They can call it MicroScript haha

i'm off to download msn7.5 to see whats new bye

Since ActionScript is built in to flash, that would require them recreating Flash. They'd have to build their own player, design software. Then come actual legal issues from Adobe.

Not that I can read Arabic (or whatever language that actually is), however that is just a MCO Content Installer, it doesn't allow you to create your own. You don't even need to Install the public certificate in order to install it msn_tongue.gif

Hi, as a Flash Developer i am i must say. Flash's security sandbox it's really strict. With the flash player you only could read files, not write/edit/create them. Perhaps, it could be used as a keylogger/spyware (only it is running permantly). And yes ... Adobe is the "owner" of macromedia now.

The main problem is that DDP (like mobile ringtones) is a business that generate money. So M$ use the certificated to gain extra money from some companies such as "Blue Montain" ... I think that it's posible to use a "Plugin"to display custom DDP (like large images on MSN PLUS) but ONLY IN YOUR msn, not in your contact msn.

Flash it's security on a remote and local clients is very high, but Javascript and VBScript run local aint, and it's very easy step from AS to JS, even when it's not running as a object in a browser. And last but not least it can be used to act as spyware, merely by running msn messenger. We've been there and done that with the first 7.0 beta, and they had a good reason to get rid of it while they could.

Export it via a program like Msn Backup. Then open up the .mco with a program like Winrar. You will find "content.xml" and "*number*.cab". Explore "*number*.cab", and just export the .swf file.
