QUOTE(Kobol@http://www.msghelp.net/showthread.php?tid=59011&pid=644695#pid644695)
Just a quick note, I have tracked down the memory usage issue. I dont even know how this is possible, but since ive done it my memory usage has been at 20MB for MSN with a contact window open.

I used NoRooms ListCleaner and removed all of the contacts that had deleted me from their list (there were about 80), all of the people I was allowing to see my status even though they werent on my list and I wasnt on theirs (omg, there was a lot, at least 160), and all the people im blocking that deleted me and I deleted them (about 60)....I then deleted all the Address Book Entries corresponding to these contacts...and Wallah, My Messenger Memory Usage is now down to 20MB with 1 chat window open...thats 60MB less than before I cleaned it. Even if it is a matter of simply cleaning it, they obviously need to improve upon their skills, cause a lot of people with older accounts (like mine, from all the way back before I even started coming to this community) will have a ton of these dead entries and such.

Just thought i'd let you know...

By the way, Kobol is workin with Ken from the WLM team so no need to bug this issue.

I need some feedback from you guys to see if this solution works efficiently msn_happy.gif.

The same situation occurs with me, MSN/WLM seems to be using a lot of ram as compared to other instant convo programs

Its nice to see someone on the MSN/WLM team tackling this problem, hopefully we'll see some results

Does it work with both MSN and WLM?

I just tried it. I was only able to delete about ten contacts (I've always kept my list fairly organised, though there was one contact I didn't realise had deleted me.. msn_tongue.gif) from all lists in total and if anything Messenger is now using MORE memory (69MB compared to 65 previously), but I don't think that's really conclusive evidence of it not working.

Messenger may well use a lot more memory when you have huge amounts of contacts in various lists, but deleting them doesn't seem to help for me, probably due to the small number I was able to delete.

It's totally independant of Messenger as it's essentially a Messenger client itself. You just give it your log in details and it signs in just like MSNM/WLM would then tells you various details..

Try a relog, and look again.
Mostly the contacts and stuff are already loaded after you run this program.
And why if you have 18mb do you try to get more free memory ._.

i tried this but i have one question.. i have more people on my block list than on my allow list, but those contacts have not block/deleted me... is it possible for me to get rid of them? cause i really wouldn't like to change my msn adress just because of this... i was only able to delete about 10 contacts but wlm is still using about 50mb without any convo window open...

nope, I don't think you can get on their list and delete yourself msn_wink.gif

so, you'll just have to keep blocking them

It also gives runtime errors when trying to delete too many contacts at one time.

Oh, and btw, if your passport doesn't end in one of the provided, just delete the one that was selected in the box, and type in the one you use msn_wink.gif
