I doubt this would happen because there are plenty of hotmail.com and hotmail.co.uk. But, they may change it due to Windows Live Mail.

I remember there being a topic about @livemail.com before

Well I'd love to change my e-mail loooL My account it's ancient. It was creadted in late 1999 msn_tongue.gif And @live.con would sound better than @livemail and since you'll use it at many services it is also more suitable however @livemail is better than @hotmail that really sucks. hotmail was created in 1997 and later bought by Microsoft. The original name was intended to resemble HTML and Mail and was presented with capital letters (something like HoTMaiL) to show that it was an HTML based mail service msn_tongue.gif

From the looks of it, it will be @live.com

At the Live Mail Desktop page where you can sighnup for updates, it says that you need to have a valid @msn, @hotmail or @live.com email

I hope that the current hotmail users will be able to go over to it without making a new account

I don't think so! When Microsoft changed @msn to @hotmail you could not change to @hotmail without creating a new account!

You may be wrong, you may be right, but when @hotmail.co.uk was released, people from the UK who had @hotmail.com could switch to @hotmail.co.uk.

I'm not sure if @live.com e-mail addresses will be allowed to be registered, but what I do know is that there are no plans to move all @hotmail.com and @msn.com accounts over to @live.com accounts. The question about registering @live.com e-mails has been asked on the newsgroups and we're waiting for a reply.

Sean is correct, there are no migration plans so that @msn.com or @hotmail.com will be able to automatically move to @live.com That said, its pretty easy to move your contacts across, and you can check both accounts via Desktop Mail.
