I'm new on this forum so for starters,

HELLOW EVERYBODY !!!!!!!

Once in a while I feel the need to format and I always lose my favorite emoticons that I receive/capture from several people.
Now , my problem is that I can't save my moving icons into a file.

I know that when I go to a site and I press the rightmouse button , you can save it in gif-format but I don't know how to save them when they are already in MSN.

I have already tried :

-pasting them into paint and saving them as gif but then I only get 1 picture of the moving icon.
-pasting them in photoshop but with the same result as before.
-capturing them with CEDP.Stealer and then saving them but here I only get 1 picture of the moving emoticon.

Can somebody help me with this ?

O.K... I gather you want to save emoticons. Go to run, then type %appdata%
then go to Microsoft, MSN Messenger, you should see some account numbers, find out which is yours, then go to it, then go to CustomEmoticons, and they will be in .DAT files, you can just change the extension to .GIF.
I'm sorry if I didn't get what you meant, it was quite hard to understand msn_thinking.gif

i don't know if those are gif images.. there is a program that allows you to save your msn messenger images called icon backup, its at http://www.iconbackup.com.. you can manage and save your icons in bulk or individually with this tool.

As far as I know XP has it showing be default, vista has it hidden. Either way right click the taskbar, properties, start menu tab, click customise next to start menu, and scroll down that lsit and you should find "run command", check that box and you will see it (XP should be the same or at least similar). You will then see it when you click Start.

I am able to find C:\Documents and Settings\my.name\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\2854550528, but within that folder there are no other folders, just 20 files called sqmnoopt00.sqm to sqmnoopt19.sqm.

My custom emoticons still work in Live Messenger, so they must be stored SOMEWHERE.... right? msn_sarcastic.gif What is this?

I am using Windows XP.

That's old location.

You need to look here

C:\Documents and Settings\my.name\Application Data\Local Settings\Microsoft\Messenger\email\ObjectStore

I think... I have Vista which is slightly different.

Thank you! msn_happy.gif

It's actually C:\Documents and Settings\my.name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\email\ObjectStore though, for future searchers.
