same thing here windows Live one care will not allow modified WLM8 to connect only sulution i can see is to uninstall Live Onecare or use an unpatched WLM8 not much of a choice really

just in case you dont know how to fix problem for now,
go to add remove programs click on messenger and chose uninstall then when options come up chose repair it makes u reboot pc then you can connect again with all those nice adds msn_sick.gif

If you make modifications to messenger in memory only, OneCare doesn't notice the difference.

See here for details: MemSkin+

Interesting WOC is so retarded. I'm a managed beta tester and don't even use it =\ I find that reinstalling windows is the best way to deal with many problems.

But I'm the one who has a windows installation that takes only 10 mins to reinstall... so I guess that explains it.

When I try to sign in WLM patched with mess patch, I get a window saying:
QUOTE
"The passport ID used to sign in is not allowed access to this Beta version of Messenger. 810003cc"

WTF?? I've tried with two different email.

I've got the same problem where I can't change my display name - however I have heard that it has happened before and normally you just have to wait.... but I'm not sure because I've never come across this untill I used the mess patch

I'm having this same problem. I'm tried repairing msnmsgr.exe and even completely uninstalled and reinstalled it and windows live onecare is still not permitting it. WLOC sucks ..lol

So far, there doesn't seem to be a way around this. WOC just seems to recognize any mod made to the Messenger executables. I guess it's a choice between Windows OneCare and Mess Patch... (shouldn't be too hard though, right ? msn_wink.gif)

there is no way to crack WLOC?
like somehow using a program to manipulate the 'Allow' list and add the patched version in there... kind of hard to crack open an antivirus/anitspyware/firewall program msn_dunno.gif

For the past 3 weeks I've been contacting one of the Windows Live OneCare support engineer's in hope to solve this problem with Mess Patch. I'll let you all know when progress has been made.

I'm not sure that Windows Live OneCare team will do something about that :/ Because patching Messenger is illegal so I don't really think they would allow it.
