If you make modifications to messenger in memory only, OneCare doesn't notice the difference.

Interesting WOC is so retarded. I'm a managed beta tester and don't even use it =\ I find that reinstalling windows is the best way to deal with many problems.
But I'm the one who has a windows installation that takes only 10 mins to reinstall... so I guess that explains it. This post has been edited by theKarn: Mar 25 2006, 05:01 AM |

When I try to sign in WLM patched with mess patch, I get a window saying:
QUOTE "The passport ID used to sign in is not allowed access to this Beta version of Messenger. 810003cc" WTF?? I've tried with two different email. This post has been edited by zooster: Mar 25 2006, 08:02 AM |

I've got the same problem where I can't change my display name - however I have heard that it has happened before and normally you just have to wait.... but I'm not sure because I've never come across this untill I used the mess patch

So far, there doesn't seem to be a way around this. WOC just seems to recognize any mod made to the Messenger executables. I guess it's a choice between Windows OneCare and Mess Patch... (shouldn't be too hard though, right ?

there is no way to crack WLOC?
like somehow using a program to manipulate the 'Allow' list and add the patched version in there... kind of hard to crack open an antivirus/anitspyware/firewall program |

For the past 3 weeks I've been contacting one of the Windows Live OneCare support engineer's in hope to solve this problem with Mess Patch. I'll let you all know when progress has been made.

I'm not sure that Windows Live OneCare team will do something about that :/ Because patching Messenger is illegal so I don't really think they would allow it.
