"Contact has added you" dialog vanished!?! Options

for the last year or so Ive been working off of the address tarendai(-)darkstars.co.uk for msn, and Ive noticed that I can add people and its all fine, but I cant be added, because when peopel add me I never get the little pop up saying so.

This problem occurs under live messenger 2009/8.5/8.1/8.0 meebo Adium pidgin etc , basically every single msn client one can think of, and as you can see it happens regardless of OS so XP/Vista/2000/linux/MacOSX and so on.

I've tried fiddling with the settings for privacy in msn messenger to no avail. When people add me nothing happens until I add them manually by entering their email address into the add contact button.

Any ideas on what to do or who to go to?
