So I installed Windows Live Mail and guess I wasn't paying attention because it installed MSN [version 14? or something]. x_X
Looks really good, but let's just say I'm allergic to change and prefer 8.5. I just tried to installed 8.5 again only for it to tell me I need to uninstall the latest MSN first. k. Now I would do that buuut I don't want to lose my emoticons and display pictures. So does anyone know for sure that uninstalling then reinstalling would NOT lose me my emotes/displays etc? Or is that guaranteed? Thank you lots, in advance. P.s. Anyone know how reliable MSN Plus is for saying whether you're in someone's contact list? Particularly if that person is eds.com or gmail.com? >.> This post has been edited by Jigokudayu: Mar 8 2009, 01:17 AM |

You shouldn't lose any custom content when uninstalling WLM but if you really want to make sure you don't lose them by backing them up you can do so.
Everything is stored in the following location (Vista): C:\Users\Windows Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Messenger\Email Address\ObjectStore Or here for XP: C:\Documents and Settings\Windows Unsername\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\Email Address\ObjectStore UserTile is display pictures by the way. You need to have hidden files and folders showing in order to find this. Just copy and paste these foldders to your documents. You will find that they are .dt2 and .id2 files. To see what they are you just rename the files changing the extention to .gif or .jpg As far as the reliability of Messenger Plus saying whether you're in someones contact list I'm not sure. |

It's listed in Add/Remove programs under Windows Live Essentials.
