Im thinking about getting a SubWoofer for my car, and i think i have an idea about the Watts and such, i just wanted to make sure.
so...
i have a 250W Amp, with currently 2 6x9s (100W RMS, 300W Max)
i have my eye on a SubWoofer in halfords, which says that it has a 400W maximum,
so my question is, would all this be fine off the same amp or would i need to get another?
Edit: also i think mine is a 2 channel Amp... but im not sure...?
It'll be fine. The bigger the amp means the more sound it pumps into the speaker. Example: I have a 1500watt Speaker that's in my party boom box (which some have seen in my desktop images) Now if I hook the speakers out of that onto my 20watt out the back stereo, it'll produce sound but not as much with as a large amp. It also depends on how much load your going to put on the Amp (The more the load the hotter it'll get and the faster it'll burn out).
But I reckon it should be fine, if not later on you can always buy a bigger amp.
If your Amp is too much for your speakers then you'll be blowing speakers all the time. Talk to some Car stereo people or look it up on the net to see what people have to say about it.
Edit: Before someone calls me a Chav, I say get stuffed! I like my music it's even better when it's loud.
